GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur Organizes Multifarious Activities In Observance Of World AIDS Day

Red Ribbon Club Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur with IQAC, organized multifarious activities in connection to the observance of World AIDS Day in collaboration with J&K Aids Control Society in which a rally was conducted from the college premises, a Poster making competition, reels making competition was organized under the theme “Take the Right Paths”. The whole program aimed to educate students about the causes, symptoms and prevention of HIV/AIDS. The event was conducted under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Principal of the college. A rally was organized by the students from the college premises on 04 th of December 2024 raising the slogans “Fight the Virus, Not the People” and “Prevention is Better than Cure”. The rally started from the college premises and went to nearby villages spreading awareness on HIV/AIDS and fighting stigma and discrimination against people living with this infection. While addressing the rally, the Principal praised the students for their active participation. She also focused on the importance of education and awareness campaigns to control the spread of misinformation and reduce the stigma surrounding the disease. She further stressed that the purpose of the rally was to create awareness among the local community and stakeholders about this deadly disease. Next Day, a poster making competition was also organized in which students depicted their ideas through their posters. Ms Madiha Mir of Semester 3 rd , Ms Palak of Semester 3 rd and Mr. Dikshant of Semester 1 st secured 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd position respectively. A reel making competition was also organized in which different students participated. In reels making competition, Ms. Sunaina Rajput of Semester 1 st , Ms. Simran of Semester 1 st and Ms. Rinkey Verma of Semester 3 rd secured 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd position respectively. In the end, the Principal appreciated the efforts of the participants and congratulated the convenor of the program for conducting such events. The different activities were convened and organized by Dr. Sunil Tanoch, HOD Sociology, Convenor of Red Ribbon Club. Others present in the Week-long program were Prof. Rekha Sharma, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Zahoor Mir, Dr. Mubariq, Mr. Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal.
