GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur Inaugurates “ELC Wall: Empowering Youth For A Stronger India” Under The Banner Of SVEEP

In a significant effort to promote Electoral awareness and Democratic participation, today on 24 th of August 2024, Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur inaugurated an “ELC Wall: Empowering Youth for a stronger India” within the college premises under the banner of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr) Seema Arora, Principal of the College. The ELC Wall was prepared with great enthusiasm and creativity. A banner, depicting awareness to vote and navigate the impact on the election campaign, was displayed on a prominent wall of the College. This illuminated a crucial statement of commitment to free and fair elections and had a significant impact on the participants. Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Seema Arora, appreciated the efforts put in by the Electoral Literacy Club of the College in organizing such an event to spread awareness about elections and their importance. She said that ELC wall at GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur was a kind of dedication inculcating democratic values in community. By participating in this initiative, the students and the staff have set a powerful example of democratic participation. Such events are need of the day to instil a sense of civic responsibility among the community and this initiative not only raised awareness about the importance of voting but also reinforced the idea that every individual vote contributes to the strengthening of Democracy. She further said that Right to vote is an essential element of Democracy in any country, and the proportion of adult citizens who exercise that right in free, fair, and frequent elections is one measure of how democratic a country is. The whole program was organized under the convenorship of Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, Convenor, Electoral Literacy Club. Dr. Maansi Sharma and Prof. Rekha Sharma were the members of organising committee.
