on 11th November 2024, NCORD Unit of GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized One Day Workshop on Anti Tobacco Campaign and also included Concept of PCOS and Yoga 2024 in collaboration with Directorate of Ayush, J&K District AYUSH Officer Udhampur under the able guidance of Dr. (Prof.) Seema Arora Principal of the college to aware the students about Drug abuse, PCOS and Yoga for women empowerment and drug abuse. The programme started with key note address by Principal of the college. She emphasized that Drug effects can be minimized by adopting Yoga in routine life which can lead to overcome various diseases and stress in women lives and also to get rid of drug abuse by performing certain Yoga asanas. Dr. Rakesh Gupta (MD) and Dr. Vilakshi Jamwal (MO) were the resource persons. Dr.Rakesh Gupta gave Power point Presentation on Drug abuse and Launching of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) Dr. Rakesh Gupta deliberated on drug abuse in his presentation. He talked about the harmful effects of drug abuse which changes the behaviour of an addict such as mood swings, increased aggression toward others, sleep or experiencing insomnia, upset stomach, dry mouth, and drowsiness. Drug using is life threatening and causes disability or permanent damage and in female during pregnancy causes birth defects. He said that sometimes students make use of drugs to stimulate their performance in sports and studies because of peer pressure of scoring good rank. He stressed upon the students to adopt sports and yoga activities as a part of their daily life in order to enhance their performance in sports and studies instead of using drugs.Students were Encouraged to display their concern in combating the side effects of the drugs through Posters and Slogans. Dr. Vilakshi Jamwal spoke on the topic, “ PCOS Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by hyperandrogenism and chronic anovulation. Depending on diagnostic criteria, 6% to 20% of reproductive aged women are affected. Symptoms of PCOS arise during the early pubertal years. Both normal female pubertal development and PCOS are characterized by irregular menstrual cycles, anovulation, and acne. Dinesh Bhagat and Niroshi Sharma as yoga Instructors made the students to perform Yoga asanas and advised the students to understand the concept of “Yoga for Women Empowerment” and “Yoga for PCOS” and also advised that women should join yoga classes which can build their self- confidence, capabilities and alleviate self-consciousness and promote body positivity among them. She also said that yoga classes can address specific health concerns such as PCOS, menstrual discomfort, pregnancy and menopause. Dr.Rekha Sharma was the convenor, Dr. Akhter Hussain ,Dr.Zahoor ,Dr.Muntazir and Dr.Mubarik Mahir were the Organizers of the programme. Dr.Sunil Tanoch ,Prof.Shaista yasmeen ,Miss Neha were also Present.
